Kosovo
Members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs will hold an extraordinary meeting with Mrs Atifete Jahjaga, the first female President of Kosovo. A meeting by Presidents Buzek and Jahjaga is scheduled for 17h, followed by a press point (Tuesday).

Poverty and Social Exclusion
The Employment Committee will give its input to the Commission's plans to create a European Platform against Poverty and Social Exclusion, aiming at reducing poverty, improving use of EU funds and achieving more effective social protection (Thursday).
Future Transport Policy
MEPs in the Transport Committee will start their discussions on the future of the EU transport policy 2010-2050 (Thursday).

Youth Convention on Volunteering
The European Parliament is hosting the second Youth Convention on Volunteering, bringing together about 1000 young people from 27 European countries and beyond. Her Royal Highness Princess Mathilde of Belgium and EP Vice-President Isabelle Durant will attend the opening of a Volunteering Village on the Solidarność 1980 Esplanade on Thursday (Wednesday-Saturday).

Preparing for the plenary
Parliament's political groups will devote most of the week to preparations for the 12-15 September plenary session in Strasbourg. The main items on the agenda are votes on new rules to prevent abusive practices in the energy wholesale market, on changes to the mandate of the EU agency for external borders security FRONTEX, on the safety of offshore oil and gas activities, on better legislation and on the EU's counter-terrorism policy. MEPs will also debate the state of play of the Middle East peace process with Commission Vice-President/High Representative Catherine Ashton and welcome Bronisław Komorowski, President of the Republic of Poland, who will address the House.
