Electronic waste

MEPs will decide on an update to EU rules on the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment (debate and vote Thursday).

Tunisia

High Representative/Commission Vice-President Catherine Ashton will debate developments in Tunisia with MEPs Wednesday Ebs + LIVE 15.00 - 20.00 CET), who will then adopt a resolution on the issue (Thursday). A delegation of MEPs will visit the country after the session.

Bananas

An agreement aimed at ending the long-running dispute on international trade in bananas will be put to Parliament (debate Wednesday, vote Thursday).

Roma genocide

EP President will open the session by a statement on the EU recognition of the Roma genocide during the World War II, followed by a debate.

EU summit

EP President Jerzy Buzek will address heads of state or governments at the start of the latest European Council meeting, before holding a press conference (Friday).  Plans for the summit will be debated with Commission and Council representatives during the EP session.

Committee meetings and other activities

Consumer rights

A package of legislation covering the rights of consumers when buying goods or services comes to a vote in the Internal Market Committee (Tuesday).  Parliament's Press Service is organizing a seminar for journalists on this topic.

Financial supervisors

The Economics Committee will hear from the candidates proposed to head the EU's new financial market supervisory authorities (Tuesday).

Pension system

The Employment Committee will adopt its position on how to ensure EU countries maintain viable pension systems in the years ahead (Tuesday).

Child abuse

Legislation aimed at reducing the risks that children face sexual abuse will be put to the vote in the Civil Liberties Committee (Thursday).

Work/residence permit

The same committee votes on legislation to give legal migrants the opportunity to make a single application for both work and residence permits in EU countries (Thursday).

Iran

The Foreign Affairs Committee is set to adopt its position on the EU's strategy towards Iran (Tuesday)

Moldova

EP President Jerzy Buzek will meet Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat Thursday Ebs 2 - 14.30 CET.

EP - Hungary

EP President Jerzy Buzek meets with Laszlo Kover, Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly.

The Foreign Affairs committee organises an exchange of views with Miroslav Lajcak, Managing Director in EEAS in charge of Russia, Eastern Neighbourhood and Western Balkans.
