Hedge funds

MEPs will take their final vote on the deal that they have hammered out with EU Member States over the past year. The new laws on hedge funds and private equity will impose registration, reporting and initial capital requirements (debate Wednesday, vote Thursday).

Energy

EU-US summit

EU budget 2011

Conciliation negotiations for an agreement between Parliament and the Member States on the EU budget for 2011 continue during the week (Thursday).

Citizens' initiative

Constitutional Affairs Committee MEPs will discuss draft rules that would enable EU citizens to call directly upon the European Commission to propose legislation, provided that they can gather signatures from at least a million supporters (Tuesday).

Economic governance/Jean-Claude Juncker

Economic Affairs Committee MEPs will discuss economic governance with Eurogroup President Jean-Claude Juncker as well as the decisions taken at the October European Council (Monday).

Enlargement

The Foreign Affairs Committee will discuss with Commissioner Stefan Füle the Commission's 2010 enlargement package, containing its strategy paper, the opinions on the applications by Montenegro and Albania and seven progress reports on the other (potential) candidate countries (Tuesday).  

Afghanistan

The Foreign Affairs Committee will outline its priorities for a new EU strategy for Afghanistan (Tuesday).

Jerzy Buzek pays an official visit to Luxembourg, including meetings with Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker (Tuesday). The President will also meet with Norwegian Storting President Dag Terje Andersen in Brussels (Wednesday).

Catherine Ashton, EU Foreign Affairs High Representative and Commission Vice-President will hold a discussion on development-related aspects of the European External Action Service on Monday with the members of the Committee on Development.
