Committee meetings and political groups week
Pakistan floods
Aid Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva will appear before the Development Committee to update MEPs on the EU's response to the devastating floods in Pakistan (Tuesday).

Funding for energy efficiency
The Industry Committee votes on plans to use unspent funds from the EU's economic recovery programme to fund energy efficiency and renewables projects (Thursday).
Human trafficking
The Civil Liberties and Women's Rights Committees will jointly hold an initial vote on a draft law to update and broaden minimum criminal sanctions across the EU for those involved in human trafficking (Thursday).
External action service
The Legal Affairs Committee will discuss legislation to adapt the EU's staff regulations to allow for the creation of the new diplomatic service (Thursday).
Bronisław Komorowski
The President of Poland will be in Parliament for a meeting with EP President Jerzy Buzek (with a press point) and will also have a discussion with Polish MEPs (Wednesday).

Preparing for the plenary session
Parliament's political groups will devote most of the week to preparations for the 6-9 September plenary session in Strasbourg. The agenda includes the first "State of the Union" debate with the Commission President, José Manuel Barroso, an address from the President of Mali, legislation on animal testing, and debates on the proposed Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, press freedom in the EU and same-sex marriages.
Pre-session press briefing
Any changes to the agenda adopted by the Conference of Presidents will be announced at the regular press briefing on Friday at 11am, with Parliament's press services and the main political group spokespeople on hand to comment on the session (PHS 0A050 Anna Politkovskaya room).
